How To Scan A File And Then Email On Canon MG 7100 Series Printer

The scanned data can be attached to an e-mail using the machine’s operation panel

Before you attach the scanned data to an e-mail, you must consider the following:

  • MP drivers must be installed

The first and foremost thing is to install the MP drivers with a CD-ROM setup, if not yet installed. You can also install them from our website.

  • The connection of the machine to the computer should be done correctly

Make it confirm that the machine must be connected to the machine correctly.

Never unplug or plug-in the USB or LAN cable while the machine is in operation mode or the sleep /standby mode of the computer.

While performing the scanning through a network, be rest assured that all the necessary details are given in detail.

  1. The machine must be turned on.
  2. Click on the HOME screen tab and tap SCAN.,
  3. Click on the tab Attach to E-mail.
  4. Click on the Computer tab to forward the scanned data.
    1. For USB- connected computer click on Local (USB) or else click on the computer tab for the scanned data to be forwarded to a network-connected computer.
  5. Follow the settings as mentioned:

A- Click to select the type of document.

The document will scan the actual one over the platen glass as document data by applying the settings given in Scan Settings

The photo will scan the actual one over the platen glass as photo data by applying the settings given in Scan Settings

B- Click to display the Scan Settings screen

C- Click to display how to load original document

D- Click to display the window to choose the final location

  1. Now on the platen glass, place the original.
  2. Press the COLOR tab to perform the color scanning, or press the BLACK tab to perform black and white scanning.

When you select the JPEG format setting on the scan setting screen:

The machine will perform the scanning and the scanned data will be forwarded to the computer and will get attached to an e-mail.

When you select the PDF/Compact PDF for Format on the scan setting of the screen:

After the scanning is done, a confirmation screen will be displayed asking you if you want to continue the scanning.

When you continue the scanning, place the original over the platen glass and begin scanning.

If you don’t continue the scanning, click End. The scanned data will be sent to the computer.

The scanned data will be sent to the computer and will be attached to an e-mail as per the given setting in Canon IJ Scan Utility.

After the scanning is done, remove the original on the platen glass.

When the program selection is displayed:

When using Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista:

The program selection screen will be shown when you touch the Color or Black tab. In this situation, select the Canon IJ Utility and then press OK.

Wen using Windows XP:

After clicking the Color or Black tab, the program selection screen will be shown for the first time, in this situation, chose the Canon IJ Scan Utility as the application software to use. Chose Always use this program for this action and then press OK. The Canon IJ Scan Utility will be started automatically from the next time.
